Sujata Majumdar is a renowned playback singer of Bollywood and has sung for Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati and Kannada feature films. She is best known for her songs in Hindi films like Delhi 6, Raavan, Chetna, Akrosh, Godfather Shiva, Uvaa, Kisaan, Gandhigiri, etc.
It was an honour for her to have got a chance to work with the music maestro Mr A R Rahman in Delhi 6 and Raavan. She has several multilingual albums to her credit. She has sung for several ad jingles as well.
An approved vocalist of all India radio (Baroda and Mumbai), she has received many awards for her contribution in the field of music. She has globe trotted for her stage performances with all leading Bollywood film stars and playback singers.
She has also been a brand ambassador for a Gujarat based pizza chain. Beauty with brains. Sujata has been a journalist and worked as a sub-editor with Indian Express before. She quit her job long back to totally focus on her passion for music. However her flair for writing continued and she wrote several articles as a freelancer with Firstpost, free press journal, new woman and Feelings Magazine.
She holds a master’s degree in English literature Honours from M.S University, Baroda. She also has done her master’s degree Reiki due to her interest in meditation and healing. In the field of music, her first guru is her mother Mira Majumdar.
Later she received training in Hindustani classical from pt Bhavdeep Jaipurwale. She also has a good grip on different types of Indian folk, Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrulgeeti.
Her recent releases were The Boat Song (Onam special) and Gurunaman (teacher’s day special). Sujata is also a soulful composer and has composed few devotional songs which released from Artistaloud /Hungama platform.
Her forthcoming song video is based on a Bengali folk, soon to be released on Judo Music.
