Mr. Bhalla founded BGSB Concrete Solutions in 2009 and BGSB Concrete Africa Ltd in 2016. He broke the traditional stereotypes of the conventional VDF / Tremix type flooring industry and introduced state-of-the-art laser guided concrete flooring system which had been in trend in the Western counterparts.
Mr. Bhalla said, “My wife has been my greatest support system throughout this journey of ups & downs and she continues to be my biggest strength and my most honest critic. It’s her belief in me that inspires me to work even harder and scale new heights. She also serves as the Finance Head of BGSB Group”
Honestly, I don’t believe in the word ‘failure’, if I don’t succeed at something, I learn from it.
TPT asked Mr. Bhalla that If you could go back ten years, what advice would you give your younger self? Mr. Bhalla said, “Keep up the faith! You’ll get there sooner than you think.”
He answers to stay updated with the latest developments in his field. He actively attends workshops, seminars, conferences that keep him abreast of the upcoming trends in the industry.
While talking about the most courageous thing you have done in your life, Mr. Bhalla said, “There was a time in my life when I had to start again from scratch. I had lost everything except my drive to succeed and rise from the ashes like a phoenix. Even when the world had given up on me, I did not give up on myself. That’s when I founded BGSB Concrete Solutions and the rest as they say is history.”
His biggest challenge right now is the smooth and timely execution of the mega-sized projects they have bagged which require impeccable coordination of manpower, material and machinery.
Mr. Bhalla shared his mantra of connecting people and building a strong network and said, “The biggest lacuna in effective communication is that people don’t listen to understand; instead they listen to reply”. Mastering the art of listening has given me the flair of communicating with an eight-year old or an eighty-year old with the same ease.
While sharing his experience, he said, “When I entered this field, there were no takers. I was fighting against the odds. Today, after ten years of relentless hard work and perseverance the concrete flooring industry has earned the tag of a specialized field. I aspire to take this industry to the next level and give it the recognition it deserves.”
Mr. Bhalla explains the weakest points in his area and how he plans to deal with them. He said, “I think despite the changing trends, we still have a long way to go in terms of making people aware of the importance of flooring as it is the heart of any building and if the base is weak, it can’t last for long.”
Mr. Bhalla’s motto in life is ‘Carpe Diem’. He firmly believes that each day that comes is a brand new day which will never come again. So we have to go and seize the day and that’s what Carpe Diem means.
